ASSA ABLOY steals the show with relentless technological focus

Visitors to the ASSA ABLOY stand at this year’s Security 2008 Australian Security Industry Association Limited (ASIAL) Conference and Exhibition will meet with some of the industry’s leading experts and see some world first technology!

At a series of special events, visiting CEO ASSA ABLOY Asia Pacific Division, Martin Brandt, General Manager Australia, Tom Devine, and Business Manager Electronic Access Control, Michael Söderberg, will introduce the company’s latest technological advances.

The highlight is the company’s new world first electronic access control security technology, AperioTM, which was launched at this year’s event. The Aperio technology complements the successful Hi-OTM technology, launched at Security 2007.

Aperio is a startling new wireless technology developed to enhance existing electronic access control systems, providing end users with a simple intelligent way to upgrade the controllability and security level of their premises. Aperio is designed to serve as the link between an online electronic access system and mechanical locks.

Any number of existing doors can be equipped with the wireless Aperio-enabled locks and at a cost far below installing the regular electronic access system everywhere.

Also on display will be the company’s three new Hi-O enabled locking devices, all of which will be available later this year. The multifunction Lockwood 3570H Electric Mortice Lock, the Padde by Lockwood ES2000H Electric Strike and the Lockwood 8002H Swing Door operator, will complement existing Hi-O devices available today.

These state-of-the-art electromechanical locking products represent the latest in advanced technology and innovation, offering features never seen before, including: advanced diagnostic information, plug and play connectivity, increased security and remote monitoring.

The Hi-O technology relies on partnerships with electronic security providers and, already industry leaders, GE Security and Pacom Systems are working collaboratively with ASSA ABLOY Australia to bring the technology to market.
Available now is the long awaited ES9000 Pre-Load strike lock, which has similar features to the ES2000H, with the added benefit of being immune to pre-load, a common occurrence in real life caused by pulling on the door before it unlocks, warped or drooping doors and differential air pressure.

ASSA ABLOY has revealed that extensive tests prove the new ES9000 will release with up to 25 kg of pre-load, providing installers and specifiers peace of mind knowing this strike will provide reliable operation long after installation.

The ABLOY PROTEC CLIQ intelligent cylinder system is a hybrid electromechanical locking solution, which offers the ultimate synergy between the tried and true reliability inherent in electronic locks. The CLIQ technology has been extremely popular amongst government organizations and defence departments because of its superior functionality and benefits unavailable in other locking solutions.

Completing the high tech display at the ASSA ABLOY stand is the range of Digital Door Locks, which combine the convenience of keyless technology with safety through enhanced security features, allowing for easy access and egress. Marketed as intuitive Electronic Access Control, the range offers biometric (thermal finger print identification), proximity cards.

According to ASSA ABLOY Asia Pacific Division’s CEO, Martin Brandt, who was visiting Australia to launch the Aperio technology, the company’s technological focus has evolved in response to market demands for higher levels of integration between security systems.

“We are committed to developing technologies such as those being showcased because our research shows that this is what the end-user needs,” Brandt says. “By introducing new technologies, ASSA ABLOY pursues its commitment to driving the industry towards integrated and intelligent door solutions.”

Mr Brandt said that Australia was chosen as the ideal platform to pull through the latest innovations in electronic access control as it is renowned as being advanced in awareness and acceptance of new technologies.
