ASSA ABLOY Australia has been selected to supply the total door package, including mechanical and electronic access control, for over 6000 doors, of the largest hospital redevelopment ever untaken by the Victorian State Government in Australia.
This new home for the Royal Children’s Hospital, at a site right next door to its existing building is being delivered as a Public Private Partnership (PPP) under the State Government’s Partnerships Victoria model.
Commencing supply later this year, with a target date for completion of 2011, the impact of this major project on the Victorian local manufacturing industry will be immense. The local architectural specification team will work directly with the specifier on one of the largest architectural projects supplied by Lockwood.
It will be used as a model for future similar projects. ”It’s all very positive for the company!” says Vince Palombi, Business Manager Sales, ASSA ABLOY Australia. “It will be a boost to our local manufacturing as most of the products specified are made in Australia.”
The company was selected for the project based on the wide product range, quality, warranty, local manufacturing and supportive after sales service. ASSA ABLOY Australia has supplied door opening solutions in the past to many sites including many of the major hospitals around the country.
“ASSA ABLOY’s specific knowledge of the Building Codes and Disabled Discrimination Act requirements, as well as our longstanding experience an expertise in establishing suitable product selections, coordinating supply with distributors and trades will ensure that we can meet the needs of the construction companies involved,” said Vince.
